Welcome to Larodan – makers of research grade lipids since 1963
Larodan makes a comprehensive range of research grade lipids for use as analytical standards and reagents, serving customers all over the world. These products include all sorts of neutral and polar lipids, from simple fatty acids and methyl esters to complex oxylipins, glycerides and phospholipids. Our facilities are located at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
Research Grade Glycerides
Glycerides, also referred to as acylglycerols or glycerolipids, are esters formed from glycerol and fatty acids. Glycerol has three hydroxyl functional groups that are esterified with one, two, or three fatty acids to form mono, di, and triglycerides, respectively. These are commonly found in vegetable oils and animal fats, which contain mostly triglycerides that are broken down by natural enzymes into monoglycerides, diglycerides, free fatty acids, and glycerol. We offer synthetic glycerides in mg to multiple g scale, with a standard purity of >99%.
Research Grade Phospholipids
We provide a large selection of phospholipids for use as both reference standards and reagents. These are commonly used within the fields of lipidomics, biophysics, cell & molecular biology, surface & materials science, cosmetics, and food chemistry. They are available in mg quantities up to 100g. The standard purity is >99% for synthetic phospholipids and >96% for natural products.
Research Grade Fatty Acids
We offer a truly comprehensive range of fatty acids along with their methyl and ethyl esters. These products range from simple natural fatty acid analytical standards to very complex oxylipins, branched methyl esters, etc. Our fatty acids are supplied in ug to multiple g scale, with a standard purity of >99%.
